The objective of the game is to survive as long as possible with the tools that the indus people had.
As a king of the people, your job is to curate the culture of your town, by bringing in positive traits in citizens and growing the city into a prosperous one that can withstand the test of time, but beware...things are not as black and white as they seem.
You are in charge of all activities in the city - from basics like water management, sanitation and food to managing industries like flint mines, wood craft, pottery, jewelry and handling the security of your citizens through protective barriers and town policing.
You also plan the city, select areas for different activities and make the overall town plan. Then you grow the city.
To grow the city, you start by focussing on the people. The town pretty much does everything on its own, but you can intervene and change things as you wish at any point to any level.
1. Each citizen has traits he/she is born with, these are mental ability, physical strength, emotional quotient and social skills.
2. You choose what the person is better suited for based on his/her traits e.g. a person who is strong and social will become a solder, a person who is strong but has weak social skills is likely to become a tyrant.
2. Every citizen is influenced by his surroundings, a born citizen has traits derived from his parents, and is influenced by people around him, especially his teachers.
3. Initially you start by assigning citizens to different tasks based on their traits. For example you might focus a strong person on weapons, and a emotional person towards art. but the choice is yours.
4. As citizens evolve in what they do, some become experts, some become teachers.
5. A qualified teacher will be appointed by you, though they are free to apply. Be careful about who you choose, because a teacher with bad traits for the trade will influence a student similarly. Likewise a student also has a small effect on the teacher, changing his traits over time. Keep a watchful eye over them.
6. A teacher can be assigned apprentices to grow the skill and produce better workers. Based on the students traits, he/she will produce better or faster, or in the case of a bad match, perform slower and produce worse goods.
As the town starts growing it will attract immigrants:
1. Immigrants will have random traits
2. They will roam the village and try to become apprentices for teachers in your town.
3. Immigrants who find nothing to do will cause trouble in the neighbourhood
4. Once an immigrant is trained, he will try to find work.
5. Once he works for a while, he becomes a citizen, and can marry and have kids etc. which he will again do automatically.
6. You can turn away immigrants before they arrive
7. You can ban an immigrant or citizen and chase him out, but know that he would have influenced people around him.
Once you have the first hundred or so citizens, you would have curated traits that hopefully will grow your city into prosperity.
At this point you relax from managing single citizens, you observe the neighbourhoods, find problems and fix them, you handle crises and where necessary micro-manage an area until it can manage on its own.
Hopefully nothing bad will come to your town, but who knows, the world is a crazy place and anything can happen...
